フランスの19 世紀から21 世紀までの小説を中心としつつ（これまで研究対象となった作家は、ユゴー、フローベール、モーパッサン、ジッド、プルースト、ラディゲ、ルーセル、コレット、カミュ、ヴィアン、ジュネ、サガン、ル・クレジオ、トゥーサンなど）、文化、社会、歴史をめぐる問題にも広くひらかれた研究会です。
参加者は自分の研究主題を発見し、資料調査を進め、独自の見解を提出するために思考して、最終的には、説得力をもつ論述（＝卒業論文）にまとめます。
また、ひとつの作品、文献を研究会共有の研究対象に定め、それを精読しながら分析や議論を深めます。
