Course Objectives and Attainment Goals

Survey and learn the basic legal protection of intellectual property rights. Learn from and discuss with industry experts how intellectual property rights are developed and contribute to real-world economy and industries and how they manage intellectual property rights in their particular industry segment.

In-person attendance is a general requirement, while students with needs are permitted to participate online with instructor permission.

Grading Curve
Class participation and discussion 50%, Essay or brief powerpoint presentation on a select business/industry model and the role of intellectual property, compare how intellectual property is valued and contributes to the business among two or more different industries and business models 50%

Generative AI Policy for Classes

Students are permitted to use artificial intelligence for research and developing presentation materials or essay with the understanding that the use is subject to Keio University rules and policies as well as attorney professional responsibilities. Accuracy of the contents, responsibility for citing/quoting the original materials are students' reponsiblities.
