Course Contents/Objectives/Teaching Method/Intended Learning Outcome

この講義では、映画が誕生してから現代にいたるまでの歴史をたどりながら、それ以前から存在していた「古い」メディアやそれ以降に次々と誕生してくる「新しい」メディアと比較することを通じて、映画という「古くて新しい」メディアの特性を明らかにしてゆきます。また、映画に関連するメディア技術の発展にともなって、興行の形態にどのような変化が生じたのか、という観点にもつねに留意します。
春学期の講義では、サイレント映画の黎明期からトーキーが誕生し、いわゆる「古典的ハリウッド映画」が成立するまでの時期を俎上に載せる予定ですが、かならずしも時代区分にはこだわらずに、いくつかのテーマを取り上げ、それがどのように扱われ、どのように変遷してきたか、という観点から映画史を概観します。
