Course Contents/Objectives/Teaching Method/Intended Learning Outcome

古来、人々は聖なる力を求めて霊地・霊場へと向かい、霊地のいわれや神仏の霊験に耳を傾けた。とりわけ中世には、霊験を称揚し神仏の物語を視覚化させた社寺縁起絵や、霊地の過去と現在を巧みに描き込んだ参詣曼荼羅が盛んに制作され、時には人々の前で披露された。本講義では、社寺縁起絵や参詣曼荼羅などの宗教画、関連する物語や説話を取り上げ、霊地の信仰とそれを支える物語を読み解く。現代人をも惹きつけるパワースポットの源流と日本人の精神文化を探り、霊地を図像化する方法や信仰の具体相を検討しながら、物語絵を読む力の獲得をめざす。
