Course Contents/Objectives/Teaching Method/Intended Learning Outcome

『源氏物語』を中心とした平安朝の物語作品では、平安京内裏の奥深く、後宮が舞台となり、そこに住む天皇・東宮（皇太子）の皇妃たちが登場することが多い。後宮に住まう彼女たちが具体的にどのような生活を送っていたかを知ることは、平安の物語作品を読み解くのに大変役立つ。平安時代の後宮に関する基礎知識を学んだ上で、『うつほ物語』や『源氏物語』など平安時代の後宮を描く作品の理解を深めることが、この授業の目的である。
昨年度は、皇妃となる姫君の入内（結婚）の儀式を主に扱ったが、今年度は入内後の宮中での暮らしぶりに焦点を当て、詳細に見ていくことにする。『栄花物語』『大鏡』に見られる歴史上の例と『源氏物語』を中心とした物語の記述を比較検討しながら学んでいく。
なお、サブタイトルは「平安朝の后がねの姫君の一生」だが、女性だけではなくその後見役である父親の貴族男性の親心や政治的思惑についても重点を置いて考察していく予定である。
