Course Summary

We will explore the main issues in the field of information and communications law from the perspectives of interpretation and legislation. Specifically, participants will discuss specific issues, such as the balance between freedom of expression on the Internet and copyright protection, the relationship between privacy and security regarding the protection of secrecy of communications, and measures to ensure equality for each user on the network. We will also conduct analyzes (case studies) of related specific precedents as appropriate. Based on the instructor's practical experience in information and communication administration (approximately 30 years), tours of information and communications facilities are also planned depending on the wishes of the participants.

Course Description/Objectives/Teaching Method/Intended Learning Outcome

The goal is to deepen understanding of possible solutions and legislative theories through rotating presentations on each issue that could be a moot point under information and communications law, in line with participants' discussions and legal considerations based on the presentations. You will also learn how such issues are connected to actual policy making.
