Course Summary
Mental health is one of the most important health issues in 21th century as The WHO proposed that there can be "no health without mental health".
The main mission of Shimazu Labo is to bridge between research and practice with 3HP as key words: Health Promotion, Human Performance, and HaPpiness.
The aim of the Course is to conduct theoretical research and develop and evaluate intervention strategies to improve 3HP, by focusing on stress, coping, work, behavior, prevention, health promotion, happiness, well-being, and wellness.
Students who are interested in empirical studies and evidence-based practice and in pursuing research careers are welcome.

Course Description/Objectives/Teaching Method/Intended Learning Outcome
It consists of (1) individual research and (2) group research.
(1) Individual research: Choosing a topic related to mental health or work as your own research topic, and then aiming to write a paper through reviewing previous research, conducting surveys or experiments, and analyzing data.
(2) Group research: Forming a group by several students and working together. The aim is to write a paper through setting a shared topic and experiencing data analysis.
Those in their first term of Kenkyu-kai will receive training to the basic knowledge and skills for planning and conducting research.
