以下は、諏訪研における研究・教育の根幹・背景の考え方を補足して書いておきます。
「身体と環境にむきあおう」とするとき、それは、頭だけでその方法を考えるのではない．身体に生じる体感を自覚し（身体の声を聴き）、それをじっくりとことばで表現し、体感とことばの関係を探究してみようということである．
専門語で言えば，「からだメタ認知」という探究方法論である．ことばで表現するからと言って，自分の身体を分析して解明しようというのではない．ことばにするからこそ，様々な意識がつながり関係性が理解でき始めるとともに，更に謎は深まるのである．身体を考えるとはそういう行為かなと考えている．（参考文献[0][1][2][7][9]）
より学問的な香りのする言葉で表現すれば， 認知科学的／アフォーダンス的な視点から，身体・生活・学びの場の”デザイン”を行う方法論を模索する研究室である．生活や学習の場のすべては身体に根ざしている．「身体を考える生活」とは，いまいちど自らの身体に目を向けて，生活や学びの場を考え直してみよう（参考文献[0][7]）というメッセージを込めたフレーズである．
