Course Summary
The research group aims to clarify the scientific basis of food and supplements, and to achieve health from the perspective of medical food and the same source. Students will learn through reading in circles, group work, and basic experiments in order to improve their basic knowledge of metabolism, nutrition, and health. Eventually, we would like to expand our activities to social activities in collaboration with various other research group projects working on IT, policy, city planning, etc. Research is not all pleasure, but it also requires persistent mental strength. We welcome those who can find delight in actually working with their hands and creating new concepts, not just knowledge.
Course Description/Objectives/Teaching Method/Intended Learning Outcome
Countries around the world are rapidly aging, and the super-aging society in Japan is progressing at a speed unparalleled in the world. The world is watching to see how our country will cope with a population of 65 years and older, which is estimated to exceed 30% by 2030 and 40% by 2055. In this study group, we will conduct research on the goal of achieving healthy longevity from the perspective of metabolism. Currently, we are conducting research from various approaches, such as the circardian rhythm, gut microbiota, bile acids, and supplements. We wish to clarify the scientific evidence of food and supplements, and promote health from the perspective of food as a medicine. In order to enhance our basic knowledge of metabolism, nutrition and health, we will learn through reading circles, group work and basic experiments. Eventually, we would like to expand our activities to social activities in cooperation with various other research group projects working on IT, policy, city planning, etc. Research is not all pleasure, but it also requires persistent mental strength. We welcome those who can find delight in actually working with their hands and creating new concepts, not just knowledge. This year, we are looking for a few student to manage the project and consider social applications.
