Course Description/Objectives/Teaching Method/Intended Learning Outcome
This research group aims to develop the results of another research group that focuses on basic research (“Research Group2”, please take a look at it) into social applications. In this research group, we will cooperate with various corporations, local governments, civic organizations, and other research group projects in the field of IT, policy, and community development to achieve a society where people can live happily.
In this study group, as a social application of health science, we will conduct "Community Development for Health and Happiness," which is a trial of how to realize health and longevity in the field based on scientific evidence. Specifically, we will conduct survey research on cities with a focus on global happiness and health, and combine this with basic research conducted by another research group of ours to consider what an ideal city would look like. Then, we conduct practical research in Kanagawa Prefecture, Fujisawa City, Endo, and Goshomi districts.
In the field of community development for health, various factors combine to impede health, and more multifaceted efforts than ever before are needed to solve these problems. For example, how does agriculture create a healthy body and mind not only for the elderly but also for the young? How can we increase the continuity and effectiveness of community revitalization efforts led by the elderly? How can elderly people receiving social welfare services, people with disabilities, and people suffering from depression and withdrawal find healing and a sense of purpose in life through agriculture? How can we promote conservation and utilization of the natural environment, and what approaches can we take to realize a society where people can live happily with IT? We would like to solve these problems and disseminate the information to the world.
The students participating in this workshop are expected to be directly involved in the field of healthy city planning, extract and organize know-how from solving problems in the target area through practice, and enhance the construction of a new concept of healthy city planning.
Our Research group is not limited to the majors of health or community planning, and participants from various fields such as medicine, design, music, culture, environment, architecture, agriculture, international affairs, and administration are welcome. Students are expected to create a healthy community planning from SFC by integrating knowledge gained through practical experience in the field and knowledge from multiple fields. The Keio Health Science Lab staff, which consists of researchers from a variety of fields, including Dr. Gota Miura (son of Adventurer Yuichiro Miura, former Olympic skier and anti-aging society researcher), a project associate professor, a member of Fujisawa City Hall, and a proven senior member of our research group, the staff of the Keio Health Science Laboratory will provide support for the participating students.
Original and effective proposals for social activities require new concepts/discoveries and materials to persuade them. We are sincerely looking forward to the participation of young students who will be able to open up a new path with the other our research group that focuses on basic research. I would also like to take a step forward from here in Fujisawa to find a way out of difficult times with young students and realize an ideal society. I hope that all of you who share my hope will join us.
