Course Contents/Objectives/Teaching Method/Intended Learning Outcome

「21世紀はアフリカの時代」といわれます。2100年には世界人口の約40％を「アフリカ人」が占めることになるかもしれません。アフリカというと、いまでも貧困と紛争のイメージが強いかもしれませんが、今世紀に入ってからは多くの国で経済が成長し、若者が多数を占める社会は活気に満ちています。ただし、都市部では中間層向けのおしゃれな店が次々と開店する一方で、農村部では急速な開発事業が人びとのくらしに様々なひずみをもたらしていることも事実です。この授業では、長期調査に依拠して、大規模な社会変動の只中にあるアフリカ地域の姿を写し取った最近の研究書を輪読します。テーマを一つ定めて、それにかかわる複数の著書ないし論文を輪読（受講生による発表と議論）する予定です。テーマは受講生の関心に応じて決めますが、たとえば、「紛争や難民をめぐる研究」、「ジェンダーと社会変容をめぐる研究」、「先住民と自然保護をめぐる研究」などといったテーマが考えられます。
