Course Summary
Coaching and life skills
Course Description/Objectives/Teaching Method/Intended Learning Outcome
From the psychological perspective, this course will explore how to establish better relationships among athletes for the sake of performance-enhancing and seeking the victories. Sports enable people not only to motivate gaining the victories, but also to bring up their own humanities. It is crucial for coaches to improve players’ humanities in order to help them develop their skills and win the games. However, each one has different level of skills and the own point of views as well, it is difficult to comprehend how they feel about the coaching methods completely. As a result, the invisible emotional conflicts tend to be proceeded. For seeking better solutions of above psychological issue, this course provides the students the knowledge of the game theory: called ‘Prisoners’ Dilemma’. Furthermore, based on the acquired knowledge, students will learn the methods for making better relationships and the way of thinking called ‘life skill’, and put them into practice. The students will acquire the communication strategies primarily focusing upon sports coaching and be able to apply these skills to various situations to sustain good human relationships with others. This course requests the students to have your own fields of studying and develop your original methods. Moreover, you need to examine its meaning and validity continuously. Class members are required to be active learners and participants having definite purpose. There are six themes that you can choose;(1) Study of conflicts among players / between players and coaches on sporting activities (2) Study on sports conditioning (3) Programing for cultivating self-motivateed players or Life skill programing for developing mental force based on own experiences (4) Study on women’s sports/Gender and Society (5) Study on physical sensations (6) Wellbeing and community development
