Course Summary

We provide the principles of molecular and cellular biology through "Molecular and Cellular Biology 1-4." This class will be conducted in a format similar to a qualification exam. Students will study the textbook independently, take midterm online exams by chapter and ON CAMPUS final exam, and earn a grade based on the results.

This course covers Chapters 16-20 of the textbook "Essential Cell Biology."

Course Description/Objectives/Teaching Method/Intended Learning Outcome

Teaching Strategies




  • This class will be provided entirely on demand. However, the Final Exam will be held ON CAMPUS during the exam period.

  • This class will be conducted in a format similar to a qualification exam. Students will study the textbook independently, take online exams and in-person final exam, and earn a grade based on the results.

  • The textbook is well-written, and students are expected to study it thoroughly.

  • The instructor will provide self-study materials such as online quizzes. (We do not have a 90-minute lecture video each time.)

  • Questions and answers will be handled as follows.


    • Discussion on K-LMS

    • Individual online meetings will be held if the issue cannot be resolved on the K-LMS. Video of such meetings will be shared with all students.



  • Online Chapter Exam will be given on K-LMS, one chapter at a time, almost every week.

  • The Final Exam will be given ON CAMPUS during the fall semester-end exams period

    Due to the limitations of the syllabus system, the course day is displayed as “Saturday.” Still, there will be no lectures or other events on Saturdays during the semester. The content that makes up this course will be provided on demand, except for the final exam, which will be held on campus. The final exam will also not be held on a Saturday.
