Course Description/Objectives/Teaching Method/Intended Learning Outcome
Though Britain occupies a high profile in the minds of most Japanese, few know anything about the lives & culture of ordinary British people. In this course, through selected readings & audio-visual material, students will have the opportunity to learn about the culture, society & lifestyle of the British. During the course, students will be required to make a presentation about the UK on a topic of their choice and complete a printed report comparing/contrasting a topic in both Britain & Japan.
Students will have regular background reading assignments, in addition to a PowerPoint presentation & comparative/contrast report of 1,000 + words about an aspect of UK culture that interests them
From this course, students shall not only have a deeper knowledge of the culture & society of one of Europe's leading nations, but also be able to look at their own culture & society and make more informed & educated judgments.
