Course DescriptionThe Seminar is central to activities at SFC where faculty members and students work together on a diversity of issues as a prelude to the Graduation Project. At SFC, students do not merely learn answers to given problems. Education at SFC aims to nurture and send out leaders of the future who are able to identify problems and create methods of resolving them. Through participation in such research, students work on real problems in society and gain a high level of expertise, and with this in hand, they embark on their Graduation Project that will be their "fruit of designing the future" as well as a personal proposal as they advance towards the future as individuals.

Course Summary

In this course, after constructing your own questions and hypotheses on various topics related to the Korean-speaking world, you will gather appropriate research literature, conduct fieldworks, surveys and analyze them. Moreover, you will come up with effective ways to output findings obtained from the methods above. By making full use of your advanced language ability, you will be able to understand the culture and society of the Korean-speaking world in depth.

Course Description/Objectives/Teaching Method/Intended Learning Outcome

The theme of this study group is " Culture and Society in Korea". The cultural and social events of Korean people would be viewed and analyzed by the various points such as language, education, community, media and so on to reveal the characteristics in the region at the same times. It should be noted that although the title points "Korea", as far as it relates with Korean people, the region for the detail analysis will not only limited in the Korean Peninsula, but it is applicable to cover the many different regions such as Japan, China, USA, Russia and so on. The objectives of this study group is to comprehend Korean people in more macro by synthesizing the various view points and region studies. By synthesizing the various view points and region studies, to comprehend Korean people in more macro is the objectives of this study group.

Remarks

・Please reference other students research topics in Mr.Takagi’s website.
・Depending on the number of entries there may be a delay.
・We usually accept those who have taken over intensive 2 Korean classes but hose who haven’t can entry as long as you request before hand.
・Only enter if you can follow basic rules such as not being late or miss classes, being punctual for your presentations, commenting on other members presentations, reply swiftly to important notices.
・At SFC you can research on Korean Regional studies at graduate school as well if you are interested please make an early consultation,
・We only allow members that have been apart of this research group file in for the graduation project and an interview is necessary.

★On July 28th(Monday) 12:30~ We will have our final presentation on campus. If you are interested in joining our research group you are welcome to come look at the presentations. Please send an email before hand to participate.
★If this is your first time joining this research seminar you must attend the explanatory meeting held on zoom September 29th (Monday) 18:00〜19:00 (If you do not attend you may not join this research group).
