Course Description/Objectives/Teaching Method/Intended Learning Outcome
Prof. Ishii, the Head of the Double Degree Committee as well as the instructor of this course, requests all non-PEARL Keio-Sciences Po DD Students to register for this class.
The aim of this course is to examine how the advertising industry has employed music to sell goods. Music has always played an important role in advertising, which itself has been and continues to be an essential element of capitalism. Studying how commercials have been fashioned not only to sell goods and services but also to inculcate listeners and viewers into their roles as consumers will be the focus of the course.
Participation in discussion is critical in this course. Students will be asked to write a term paper of 2,000 words in length as well as several shorter writing assignments.
