Course Summary

You learn the basis of Meteorology and Climate science and discuss their application to various industrial fields in our laboratory. You determine your research theme by yourself.

Course Description/Objectives/Teaching Method/Intended Learning Outcome

This research group aims to explore application of Meteorology and Climate to various fields such as architecture, industry, disaster prevention, urban development, or politics, and to conduct scientific researches to improve fundamental understanding of Meteorological phenomena such as hurricanes. Students will conduct researches with one of the senior members for the first semester and later will do individually or in a group. Some examples of research topics are listed below.

:1. Fundamental Research on Meteorology:
:(a) Effects of aerosol on hurricanes and cumulus: This is the main theme of our research group. One can have an experience to conduct a cutting edge scientific research. Deep understanding of Meteorology and programming skill are required. We will collaborate with other research groups in Japan Meteorological Agency, RIKEN, U. of Tokyo, U. of Miami, NASA, or NOAA.
:(b) Analysis of daily weather: You will examine physical reasons of daily weather on the basis of knowledge of Meteorology. This topic would be suitable for beginners.


:2. Application of Meteorology and Climate:
This is a new topic as a Meteorological research. One explores application of Meteorology and Climate to other fields. For instance,

:(a) Application to architecture, industry, disaster prevention, urban development, or politics
:(b) New business associated with Meteorology and Climate

You can conduct researches other than the above such as that applying Meteorology to your own research field.
