Course DescriptionThis is one course of Japanese Studies on Society and Culture for JLP students. This course consists of lectures and demonstrations of Japanese culture. Students will be exposed to traditional Japanese painting through art appreciation, analysis of techniques, and reproductions.

Course Contents/Objectives/Teaching Method/Intended Learning Outcome

日本画で使われる筆・和紙・岩絵具・金箔、表具に使われる刷毛・糊を実際に手に取り作品を仕上げます。美術館や博物館で鑑賞するだけでは学ぶことができない、絵具や基底材の手触り・古典技法の楽しさと難しさ・作品の構造などを実感しながら学ぶことができます。
授業前半は、日本画の古典を通して墨による模写作品を完成させます。後半では、日本画で使われる様々な絵具を使って団扇にオリジナルの作品を描いて完成させます。日本画の様々な素材を通して、各自の個性溢れる作品を作り一緒に楽しみながら学びましょう。
