Course DescriptionThe Seminar is central to activities at SFC where faculty members and students work together on a diversity of issues as a prelude to the Graduation Project. At SFC, students do not merely learn answers to given problems. Education at SFC aims to nurture and send out leaders of the future who are able to identify problems and create methods of resolving them. Through participation in such research, students work on real problems in society and gain a high level of expertise, and with this in hand, they embark on their Graduation Project that will be their "fruit of designing the future" as well as a personal proposal as they advance towards the future as individuals.

Course Summary

In the world of data science, it requires the ability to grasp the process of data generation accurately and at the same time imagine its depths, as well as a high sense of ethics. All kinds of data such as weather, finance, transportation, logistics, and various sensors in our daily lives are connected to human activities. Each individual's "brain and body state." However, because those who handle the data do not have the proper medical knowledge and accurate understanding of the background of the data generation or the destination of the data, i.e., the human "brain and body state," the solutions derived are not directly related to the human activity itself, especially in the field of health care. In particular, in health care, almost nothing has been reflected in clinical practice.
The research group consists of a wide variety of projects, including the development of pioneering diagnostic and treatment support technologies, the design of healthcare systems that integrate into daily life, the creation of financial theories and insurance systems for the next generation, the prototyping of applications for daily use, and the detection of abnormalities through the distribution of information among systems. In addition, they will be directly involved in technology and system development from mathematical models, data analysis and correct interpretation, data structure design, business model planning, and advanced intellectual property strategy. This research is directly related to human life, so we must take it seriously.
Through this project, I would like people to realize that every aspect of our daily lives is tied to the "state" of the human body, which is a generic term for changes at the cellular level. This life constitutes the family, society, and country. In other words, I want them to develop the ability to look at the world from a bird's eye view, imagine and design systems from multiple dimensions, discuss what the next-generation healthcare system should be, and think about a sustainable eco-system that transcends generations. We will discuss what the next generation healthcare system should be and aim to acquire the ability to create a sustainable eco-system and create a cyclical business model. You will surely acquire a foundation of approach and thinking that will be useful for your future.
This seminar will be conducted in conjunction with the practical course "Entrepreneurship and Management," so it is recommended that students take both courses as a set.

Course Description/Objectives/Teaching Method/Intended Learning Outcome

ICT has become an essential part of everyday life. However, almost no ICT services link to health and medicine, which we are not conscious of daily. This course aims to redesign the healthcare system as new social infrastructure, replacing the conventional concept of the current insurance system, looking at health and medical care as an extension of daily life.

Research Seminar Theme

Designing for value-based healthcare delivery

Project Theme (next semester)

They will redesign healthcare systems as a new social infrastructure by turning their imagined research projects into creative activities.
