Course Description/Objectives/Teaching Method/Intended Learning Outcome

The topics of this research seminar are the science of touch and the five senses. The development and evaluation of sensory information that evokes the five senses, including the sense of touch, is the subject discussed in the seminar. We conduct experiments to evaluate the senses through psychological experiments and online surveys, and analyse and interpret the data from these experiments.

In the first half of the term, students will learn reading English journal articles, experimental design and experimental implementation in order to familiarise themselves with the methods used in conducting research. In the second half of the term, students will be divided into groups to select research topics and conduct small research projects. Through these activities, students will attempt to acquire research skills (the ability to read English journal articles, the ability to understand previous research knowledge, the ability to design experiments, and the ability to analyse collected data).
