Course Description/Objectives/Teaching Method/Intended Learning Outcome

In this course, we will be "Thinking Sociologically" about various things — such as behaviors of people in our everyday life, global events and so on — as the original titel of the textbook (co-)written by Zygmunt Bauman suggests. Such a way of thinking may enable different perspectives on the world you already know directly or indirectly. So, at the class, sociological theories and concepts mentioned in the textbook will be explained with specific topics-the main research field of the instructor is the contemporary history of Germany. So, often with topics from German speaking regions.-and the Students will be encouraged to "think sociologically" on their own.
