授業科目の内容・目的・方法・到達目標
In this course, we will continue the exploration of various moral theories. The emphasis will be on approaches which are not part of standard introductions.
After discussing contemporary utilitarianism, we will look at ethical egoism and its standing in empirical research on, e.g., human evolution. Subsequently we will discuss David Ross's idea of prima facie duties within ethical pluralism and Tom Scanlon's contractualism in which he expands John Rawls approach to morality as such. We will conclude with moral particularism and its denial that there are general moral principles.
