Have you ever been to an art library in a museum?
The excellent art libraries of major museums around the world are extremely important places for art lovers, curators, and researchers to conduct research and studies. In this class, we will focus on such specialized art libraries as one of the main interests of this class, and learn about their characteristics and importance through lectures, as well as focusing on the various and important specialized publications (exhibition catalogues, bulletins, annual reports, etc.) produced by museums, and acquire the basic skills to use them through exercises. As a more advanced perspective, you will also learn about the exhibition catalogue collections of important art historical research centers in Europe and the United States, as well as specific examples of online resources provided by these research centers. Jasper Andriessen, former specialist librarian at the RKD-Nederlands Instituut voor Kunstgeschiedenis, the world's largest art historical research institute will be the instructor for this class. The course will be conducted in the form of lectures and exercises.
